Tehran - Iran's President Masud Pezeshkian said the 12-day war Israel launched against the Persian country has ended, hours after the ceasefire proposed by US President Donald Trump came into effect.
"We are witnessing a ceasefire and the end of the 12-day war that was imposed on the Iranian people through the reckless aggression and warmongering of the Zionist regime," the president said in a statement.
The Iranian president asserted that Israel “has suffered a severe and historic punishment” and suffered “unimaginable damage.”
“The aggressor enemy failed time and again to achieve its sinister objectives of destroying nuclear facilities, the decline of nuclear knowledge and social unrest,” he said.
Israel lifts restrictions and resumes activities after truce with Iran
Meanwhile, Israel lifted all security restrictions applied since the start of the offensive against Iran, such as the closure of schools and workplaces, and decreed the return to full activity in the country by Thursday.
According to the Home Front Command, the branch of the Army that sets security guidelines for the civilian population, this decision was made"after assessing the situation and receiving approval from Defense Minister Israel Katz following the ceasefire agreed to by the two countries.
"As part of the changes, all areas of the country will return to full activity without restrictions," the Command added in a statement.
The changes will take effect from 8:00 p.m. local time (5:00 p.m. GMT) on Tuesday until the same time on Thursday, when further updates on these guidelines are expected to be announced.

Since the start of the offensive against Iran on June 13, Israel has ordered the closure of schools and workplaces and restricted gatherings, as part of the state of emergency endorsed by the Knesset (Israeli Parliament) and in effect until June 30. Only essential services were permitted.
Just last week, for a few days, they relaxed these measures slightly, allowing workplaces to open with a shelter nearby and allowing gatherings of up to 30 people.
This has led the country to a halt in numerous activities and the closure of shops and leisure centers, as well as many Israelis having to work remotely, but since Tuesday all these measures have been lifted and the country is returning to normal activity.
