Peace Process and Diplomatic Developments

Trump is not at all bothered by the fact that Putin, with whom he seeks to restore full economic and political relations, has friendly relations with the US enemy, Venezuelan dictator Maduro.

This was stated by White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt in response to journalists' questions, Ukrinform's own correspondent reports.

"I don't think it bothers the president at all," she said, noting that the US president can express his own point of view.

Thus, the spokeswoman answered the question of whether the head of the White House was concerned about the fact that Putin called Maduro on Thursday with offers of support amid military, political, and sanctions pressure from the United States.

"The president did not speak with Putin today. And as far as I understand, this conversation (between Putin and Maduro – ed.) took place this morning. So my answer is no, it doesn't bother me," Levitt emphasized.

As Ukrinform reported, the Trump administration has increased pressure on the Maduro regime. This comes against the backdrop of the concentration of a powerful US strike group in the Caribbean and the seizure of a Venezuelan tanker.
