The decision comes after the Constitutional Court ruled in favor of the former president in the lawsuit filed against the Romanian state, in which he challenged the loss of presidential privileges.
The Government is to approve in the meeting on Friday, August 8, a draft government decision (GD)"regarding the change of destination of a building located in the public domain of the state and the administration of the Autonomous Administration"Administration of the State Protocol Heritage" from a protocol residence to an official residence and for amending Government Decision no. 60/2015 regarding the change of the legal regime of a building and for assigning its destination as an official residence for persons who have had the quality of head of the Romanian state", reports the Victoria Palace.
According to some political government sources consulted by Gândul, the villa would be assigned to Traian Băsescu, following the CCR decision, through which he regains his rights as a former president.
In fact, Traian Băsescu's last public appearance was at Cotroceni, at Ion Iliescu's coffin, accompanied by an SPP agent.
Băsescu was deprived of these rights in 2022, following a decision by the National Council for the Study of the Securitate Archives (CNSAS), which definitively established that he had collaborated with the Securitate, under the cover name"Petrov".
