What Andrew will now be known as after King Charles stripped him of Prince title

Thursday, October 30

Andrew has been officially stripped of his royal titles and will now be known simply as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

The palace confirmed: “Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His leave on Royal Lodge had, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence.

“Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation.

“These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him.

“Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”

The disgraced royal has finally vacated Royal Lodge after King Charles reportedly insisted he leave, following months of mounting pressure, The Sun reports.

In a statement tonight, Buckingham Palace confirmed Andrew would “move to alternative private accommodation” after the King initiated a “formal removal process.”

The Palace said the eviction was “deemed necessary,” even though Andrew “continues to deny the allegations against him.”

It comes as the former Duke faces a private prosecution over alleged sex offences and corruption.

Criminal investigations have been consistently pushed by Republic and anti-monarchist campaign groups amid the mounting Virginia Giuffre scandal.

It comes as a bitter royal feud erupted between Buckingham Palace and Prince Andrew over his eviction from Royal Lodge, with insiders describing the situation as a “full-blown civil war.”

The long-running standoff reached breaking point this week as King Charles finally forced his disgraced brother to leave the sprawling 31-room Windsor mansion – nearly three years after first ordering him to go.

Sources say tensions soared when Andrew and ex-wife Sarah Ferguson gave up their Duke and Duchess of York titles – and it emerged they hadn’t paid rent on Royal Lodge for two decades.

During “advanced talks,” Andrew – the late Queen’s favourite son – had reportedly offered to move out in exchange for Frogmore Cottage, where workers have been seen rushing to get the property ready.

The 65-year-old was first offered the Grade-II listed home back in January 2023, when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were told to vacate it.

Meanwhile, Fergie, 66, had her sights set on Adelaide Cottage, which she hoped to move into once Prince William and Kate relocated to Forest Lodge next month.

But while a source close to the Duchess insisted the palace had initially offered her Adelaide Cottage in May, royal insiders quickly shot that down – claiming it was never on the table.

It was not denied by the same sources that Fergie herself had asked for the stunning property – just arms reach from Windsor Castle.

It is believed the pair were under “immense pressure” to leave the Royal Lodge home after not being seen leaving the home for nearly four weeks.

Prince William was even pulled into the bitter fallout over Prince Andrew’s eviction.

there were claims he tried to pressure Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie to convince their parents to leave the lavish estate.

An insider said: “The palace has been trying to get Andrew and Sarah to leave Royal Lodge for almost three years now. But it’s the ugliest it has ever been.

“Claims and counterclaims about who was offered what and when show it’s not going well.”

The disgraced royal’s battle to stay put has caused major tension behind Palace walls, with senior aides describing the feud as “toxic.”

Andrew’s lease on Royal Lodge runs until 2078, meaning he could be in line for a huge settlement if he agrees to leave early.

The 65-year-old hasn’t paid rent for 20 years, despite living in the Grade II-listed mansion with Sarah Ferguson – his ex-wife – since 2008.

The sprawling property, nestled inside Windsor Great Park, boasts a garden roughly the size of 60 football pitches and is protected by gated security.

The Georgian home spans three storeys, with a two-storey wing, seven bedrooms, a drawing room, conservatory, and a 15-metre-long saloon – a set up fit for a prince.

Andrew took on the lease from his grandmother, the Queen Mother, and spent £7.5 million renovating it when he moved in 22 years ago.

Despite being owned by the Crown Estate, Royal Lodge could fetch up to £30 million on the open market – far more than Frogmore or Adelaide Cottage combined. But with protesters now gathering at its gates demanding an end to “royal secrecy” over the Epstein scandal, the once-grand mansion has become a symbol of Andrew’s royal downfall.
