US Vice President J.D. Vance issued a statement during a visit to Israel in which he expressed optimism about the implementation of the peace agreement between Israel and Hamas and the preservation of peace in the Gaza Strip.
He stated this on Tuesday, Ukrinform reports with reference to NBC News.
"What we saw last week gives me great optimism that the ceasefire will hold," the American vice president said.
At the same time, he did not rule out that there will be moments when it will seem that things are not going very well.
"Can I say with 100% certainty that this will work? No, but hard things are not done by just being 100% guaranteed. Hard things are done by trying, and that's what the President of the United States has asked us to do," he added.
As Ukrinform reported, US Vice President J.D. Vance's visit to Israel this week comes at a time of escalation following the conclusion of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
