Trump commented on the ceasefire agreement reached in Gaza in a post on the US-based social media platform Truth Social. Noting that all 20 Hamas prisoners had been released, Trump pointed out that they were in good condition and said,"A great burden has been lifted, but the work is not over yet. The dead were not returned as promised. Phase two begins now."

In his final statement on the subject at the summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, US President Trump responded to the question about when the second phase would begin by saying that the phases were intertwined and that the second phase had begun.

Israel announced that Hamas has begun the process of handing over the bodies of Israeli prisoners as part of the Gaza Strip ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement.
