Transatlantic unity is crucial at this time to achieve lasting peace in Ukraine. Ukraine's sovereign right to determine the terms of peace must be respected.

EU Council President Antonio Costa wrote about this on the social network X after the end of the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, Ukrinform reports.

"As I emphasized during today's meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, if a ceasefire agreement is not reached, the EU and the US must increase pressure on Russia," the President of the EU Council noted.

He added that it is necessary to respect Ukraine's sovereign right to determine the terms of peace.

"We welcome the United States' readiness to participate in providing security guarantees to Ukraine to deter future Russian aggression and jointly ensure a just and lasting peace in Ukraine. Europe is ready to do its part," Costa said.

As Ukrinform reported, on Sunday, July 17, a virtual meeting of the leaders of NATO, the EU, and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy was held within the framework of the Coalition of the Willing meeting.
