A Russian drone strike on Kharkiv early Friday, July 11, damaged a maternity hospital and injured nearly a dozen people, according to local officials.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov wrote on Telegram that the explosions hit a maternity hospital where “women in labor and their babies were.”

He said there were no casualties at the facility, and all patients, including newborns, were being evacuated to another medical center.

The Saltivskyi district was hit, where a Shahed drone struck a residential area, damaging a three-story building and a nearby courtyard. The blast sparked fires and caused further destruction.

According to the State Emergency Service (DSNS), fires broke out in a four-story decommissioned building, a dental clinic, and on the roof of a residential building. The total fire area is estimated at 50 square meters.

Several residential buildings, the maternity hospital, shops, a garage, and a car were damaged. Preliminary reports indicate nine people were injured.

Emergency crews, pyrotechnic teams, and psychologists are working at the scene. Among the injured are two men and seven women, most suffering from acute stress reactions, with one person injured by broken glass.

Russian forces also launched strikes on Chuhuiv and other areas of the Kharkiv region. Regional Governor Oleh Synehubov said impacts were recorded in at least seven locations. Several civilian residential buildings, a medical facility, and a nonprofit enterprise sustained damage in the attack.

“Six UAVs hit an industrial site, causing a fire,” Synehubov said. A 65-year-old woman was among the injured; she received medical care.

Explosions were also reported in Mykolaiv, where a drone strike triggered a fire on the city’s outskirts.
