The British newspaper The Telegraph reported the reasons why US President Donald Trump's special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, may leave his post. According to the newspaper, the lieutenant general concluded that too many officials in the administration are simultaneously working on the Ukrainian issue, which is hindering his work.

He began to participate significantly less frequently in key meetings and did not attend the summer summit in Alaska, the publication notes.

Several weeks ago, his deputy, John Cole, also left his post, accepting the position of US Special Representative for Belarus. It is still unknown who might replace Kellogg—or whether there will be a replacement at all. The US also has not yet appointed a Senate-confirmed ambassador to Kyiv.

Reuters reported Kellogg's departure on the afternoon of November 20. He will leave his post in January 2026. The publication cites the completion of his 360-day term as the reason for his departure.
