Machado's Nobel Peace Prize Win and Dedication to Trump

Gaza Peace Deal and Trump's Role

The United States government estimated this Friday, October 10, that the Nobel Prize committee made a decision that"put politics above peace" by awarding the prize to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado instead of President Donald Trump.

The US president reportedly expressed his desire to win the Nobel Peace Prize in recent days, while negotiating an agreement between Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas on Gaza. The agreement was signed on Thursday.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee, based in Oslo, announced this Friday that Machado is the winner of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize"for her tireless work promoting the democratic rights of the Venezuelan people and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy."

"President Trump will continue to make peace deals, end wars, and save lives," White House communications director Steven Cheung wrote on X.

"The Nobel committee has proven that it puts politics above peace," he said.

He added:"He has the heart of a humanitarian, and there will never be anyone like him, capable of moving mountains with the sheer force of his will."

Why do you think Donald Trump should win the Nobel Prize?

Since returning to the White House in January, Trump had repeatedly insisted that he deserved the Nobel Prize for his role in resolving numerous conflicts.

Trump reiterated his claim on the eve of the peace prize announcement, saying that his mediation of the first phase of a ceasefire in Gaza this week marks the eighth war he has halted."Something that hasn't happened before," he said.

" I didn't do this for the Nobel Prize, I did it for humanity," he said."Whatever you do, it's right. I know this: I didn't do it for that, I did it because I've saved many lives."

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the US president should win the Nobel Prize, just hours after the truce agreement between Israel and Hamas was announced."He deserves it!" Netanyahu insisted on social media.

It's worth remembering that Donald Trump, representing the United States, has been the main mediator in this Middle East conflict. He even announced the peace agreement with the Israeli Prime Minister, and the approved peace plan was proposed by him.

Putin also believes Trump should have won the Nobel Prize: 'He does a lot for peace'

Russian President Vladimir Putin also came to Trump's defense, saying,"It's not for me to decide whether the current US president deserves a Nobel Prize, but he really does a lot to solve complex, decades-long crises."

He also insisted that his counterpart is making efforts and "is definitely working" on issues such as peace and international situations that Putin described as complex.

The Kremlin leader also noted that"there have been cases where the Committee has awarded the Nobel Peace Prize to people who have done nothing for peace."

"In my opinion, these decisions have greatly damaged the prestige of the prize," the Russian president said.

Nobel Prize experts in Oslo had insisted in the days leading up to Friday's announcement that Trump had no chance, saying his"America First" policies contradict the ideals of the Peace Prize, as set out in Alfred Nobel's 1895 will.
