Max Verstappen finished the Hungarian Grand Prix in ninth place, while teammate Yuki Tsunoda finished only 17th.

Red Bull Racing experienced a weekend to forget at the final Formula 1 race before the summer break, in which the two McLaren drivers once again dominated proceedings. Max Verstappen complained of a lack of grip at the Hungaroring and qualified only eighth. Instead of mounting a comeback, the 27-year-old Dutchman fell even further behind in the race due to his team's two-stop strategy."That idea was terrible. I'm in the middle of traffic," the four-time world champion complained via radio. After being stuck behind Lewis Hamilton in the Ferrari for several laps, Verstappen pulled out a brusque maneuver to overtake his former rival. The situation will be investigated by race control after the end of the Grand Prix. However, Verstappen did not receive a penalty.
Verstappen behind former teammate Lawson
In the end, Verstappen crossed the finish line in ninth place, behind his former teammate Liam Lawson in the Racing Bull."We have to be happy that we weren't lapped," was the sobering assessment of motorsport consultant Helmut Marko. The 82-year-old Austrian, however, was referring only to Verstappen in this statement. His teammate Yuki Tsunoda, in 17th place, was more than a lap behind the leader.
