He posted on his X-net account a letter he sent to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas confirming France's intention to become the first Western power to recognize the state of Palestine.

"The French people want peace in the Middle East, it is up to us French to demonstrate together with the Israelis, Palestinians and our European and international partners that this is possible," Macron wrote in a letter to Abbas.
