"We are once again facing a provocation from the Russian Federation with a Russian drone," Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosińska-Kamiś told reporters.
The minister said it happened"at a special moment when peace talks are underway, when there is hope that this war can end. Russia is provoking again."
Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski condemned "a new violation of our airspace from the east."
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will protest to the perpetrator of this violation," he writes on the "X" platform.
Polish General Dariusz Malinowski said the aircraft"was a decoy drone that was unarmed but had a self-destructing warhead."
No one was injured, but the impact shattered windows in nearby buildings.
The aircraft crashed in the Lublin Voivodeship near the village of Osiny, approximately 100 kilometers from the border with Ukraine and 90 kilometers from the border with Belarus.
Burnt engine parts were found at the site of the explosion. According to Polish and Ukrainian journalists, they are similar to parts of Russian"Shahed" type attack drones.
Polish media, citing sources in the Ministry of Defense, are reporting that a Russian drone,"Gerbera," which the Russian army uses as a decoy in airstrikes on Ukraine, may have flown into the country.
According to sources at the Polish news agency PAP, the drone did not have a warhead and only contained a small amount of explosives.
An airstrike was declared in the Lviv and Volyn regions of Ukraine, which border Poland, on Wednesday night. However, there were no reports of strikes in these regions.
