Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said that Israel had begun"manipulating the dates, lists, and some of the procedures and steps agreed upon in the ceasefire agreement," Al Jazeera Arab reported Thursday.
Qassem claimed that Netanyahu was doing this to"show people that he is the one in control of things, the one who moves and manages them." They maintained contact with the mediators to force the "occupation" to comply with the agreement and not allow it to be postponed, he added.
"For us, the agreement represents the end of the brutal war against our people. The guarantor states and mediators must force the occupation to comply with the agreed deadlines."
The official said that a ceasefire was discussed at noon today (Thursday), but the"occupation," for internal reasons, postponed the announcement to another date."We continue to say that the occupation must abide by what was agreed upon and we call on the mediators to work to enforce it," Qassem explained.
Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office announced that the ceasefire agreement would only take effect after being approved during a cabinet meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. local time.
