The presidents spoke for almost an hour

The telephone conversation between the presidents of Russia and the United States Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump has ended, Putin's advisor Yuri Ushakov announced, TASS reported, quoted by BTA. Ushakov described the conversation between the two presidents as frank, Agence France-Presse added.

The conversation, the sixth between them since Trump took office in January, lasted almost an hour.

During the conversation, Putin and Trump did not discuss the possibility of a personal meeting, Ushakov said."There was no talk of a possibility of a meeting. But you know very well that this idea is hanging in the air and in case of a need for one, a concrete agreement will be reached," Ushakov said.

He said that during the conversation, Trump told Putin about the"big beautiful bill" that had successfully passed the US Congress. And Putin wished him success in this regard.

Putin congratulated Trump on the US Independence Day and recalled Russia's contribution to American independence, as well as the alliance between Moscow and Washington, Ushakov was quoted as saying by the Russian agency."On our part, it was noted that Russia played a significant role in the establishment of American statehood, including during the War of Independence - 250 years ago - and also during the years of the Civil War, which ended 160 years ago," Ushakov said."It was also noted that our countries are connected not only by the alliance during the First and Second World Wars, but also by deeper historical roots."

Ushakov explained that Putin and Trump talked about Ukraine, as well as Iran and Israel, Reuters and Agence France-Presse reported.

Regarding the first topic, Putin told Trump that he would not back down from his goals in Ukraine, but added that he remained interested in resolving the conflict through negotiations, Ushakov said. He said Trump raised the issue of a quick end to the war in Ukraine. Putin told him that Russia was ready to continue negotiating, but that Moscow remained focused on eliminating what he called"the root causes of the conflict," Reuters notes. Speaking of negotiations, the Russian leader was referring to the negotiation process that began in Istanbul. Two rounds of talks between Russia and Ukraine were held there, Agence France-Presse recalls.

Moscow wants Ukraine to cede four partially occupied Ukrainian regions, in addition to annexed Crimea, and to abandon NATO membership, but Kiev says these are unacceptable conditions.

Regarding the conflicts in the Middle East, including the recently erupted war between Iran and Israel, Putin has advocated for a solution to the conflict exclusively through political and diplomatic means, Ushakov emphasized, quoted by Agence France-Presse.

The two leaders also confirmed their mutual interest in implementing a series of promising economic projects, particularly in the fields of energy and space exploration, the Kremlin adviser also said, Agence France-Presse reported.
