That's what it's about
- Prince Andrew relinquishes all his titles.
- The decision follows media reports about his relationship with Epstein.
- He continues to strongly deny the allegations against him.
Prince Andrew will give up all his titles, including the title of Duke of York, according to Sky News. He is giving them up voluntarily.
In a statement, Prince Andrew wrote: In discussions with the King and my immediate and extended family, we have concluded that the ongoing allegations against me are a distraction from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family.
Prince Andrew rejects allegations
He continued: "I have chosen, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and my country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to retire from public life."
That's why he believes he has to go a step further."I will therefore no longer use my title and the honors bestowed upon me," Prince Andrew said. As I have already stated, I firmly deny the allegations made against me.
Email to Epstein published
As a reminder, last week British media reported on serious allegations against Prince Andrew. The Sun published an email from the prince to Jeffrey Epstein, which allegedly suggests that he had been in contact with the convicted sex offender for much longer than he had previously claimed.
Specifically, Andrew wrote to Epstein at the time: I'm just as worried about you! Don't worry about me! It seems we're in this together and we need to rise above it. Otherwise, we'll stay in close contact and play together again soon!!!!
