The fire broke out at 4:28 p.m. in the villages of Tayfur and Cumalı in the Gelibolu district. Driven by the wind, the flames quickly spread and spread across a wide area.
12 PLANES AND 9 HELICOPTERS JOINED THE WORKS
Following the report, teams from the Regional Directorate of Forestry were dispatched to the area. Twelve aircraft and nine helicopters are responding to the fire from the air, while 34 water trucks, three bulldozers, six fire trucks, and a total of 276 personnel are responding from the ground.

The Çanakkale Governor's Office released a statement regarding the fire, saying,"Our teams are working tirelessly from the air and land to bring the fire under control. This is respectfully announced to the public."

The Çanakkale Governor's Office released a statement regarding the village evacuated following the forest fire in the Gelibolu district, saying,"The village of Eceabat Yolağzı is being evacuated as a precaution. Despite strong winds, intensive air and land efforts are underway to combat the fire."
Governor Toraman stated in his statement that the village of Karainebeyli in Gelibolu province was also evacuated as a precaution.
