The UN General Assembly approved today (Friday) the declaration initiated by France and Saudi Arabia, calling for support for the two-state solution - by a majority of 142 countries that supported, 10 that opposed and 12 that abstained. The"New York Declaration" refers to the solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and was approved as part of the New York conference held in July, and presents an action document intended, according to its initiators, to chart an"irreversible" path to the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon spoke at the rally and reacted sharply to the decision:"This is a hollow proposal that completely ignores reality - not diplomacy. This is a unilateral declaration that embraces the lies of our enemies and gives backing to Hamas. This proposal does not bring peace closer, but rather prolongs the war. When Hamas is the one cheering for these decisions, it is clear that this is a reward for terrorism and not a step towards peace."

Along with condemning Hamas and mentioning the abductees, the proposal includes harsh clauses against Israel: accusations of"forced displacement" and territorial changes, condemnation of IDF attacks that"caused a humanitarian disaster," emphasizing the "vital role" of UNRWA and a commitment to continued funding, as well as a call for the"right of return."

Also included are a demand that Israel immediately cease "settlement activities and settler violence," a conditionality of regional normalization on the establishment of a Palestinian state, and a call for Palestine to be accepted as a full member of the UN. One of the clauses in the same proposal also mentions the demand to revise textbooks - but not only in the PA, but also in Israel.

The Foreign Ministry said,"Israel rejects with disgust the UN General Assembly resolution. It has once again been proven to what extent the General Assembly is a political circus disconnected from reality: in the dozens of articles of the resolution and the declaration to which it refers, there is not a single mention that Hamas is a terrorist organization."

The ministry said that the statement "does not address the simple fact that Hamas is solely responsible for the continuation of the war, in its refusal to return the hostages and disarm. The resolution does not promote a peaceful solution - on the contrary, it encourages Hamas to continue the war. Israel thanks all the countries that did not lend their hand to the parade of folly and this shameful decision in the General Assembly."

Will clarify priorities: Rubio will arrive in Israel

And in the midst of the moves against Israel at the UN, the US Secretary of State will visit Israel and Britain starting tomorrow. Against the backdrop of tensions between Israel and the US following the attack in Doha, the State Department said that in Israel, Rubio will convey America's priorities in the conflict with Hamas as well as on broader issues related to Middle East security and reaffirm the US commitment to Israel's security.

It was also reported that Rubio will also emphasize the countries' shared goals:"ensuring that Hamas never again controls Gaza and returning all abductees home. The Secretary of State and Israeli leaders will discuss Israel's operational goals and objectives related to Operation Gideon's Chariots II, and our commitment to combat anti-Israeli actions, including unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state that rewards Hamas terrorism, and legal warfare at the International Criminal Court and the International Criminal Court of Justice."

The Secretary of State will also meet with families of the hostages and emphasize to them that the release of their relatives remains a top priority. He will then continue to the United Kingdom, where he will join President Donald Trump's delegation - which is not expected to come to Israel. Rubio will meet with the British Foreign Secretary to discuss cooperation between the United States and the United Kingdom on global challenges, including ending the Russia-Ukraine war, preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, securing the release of all hostages held by Hamas, and a ceasefire in Gaza.

Earlier, a closing ceremony for the mass cycling journey was held in collaboration with the"Opnova" community in Kibbutz Be'eri. Nira Sharabi, Yossi Sharabi's wife, spoke at the end of the journey, saying that"the steps we witness every day endanger the kidnapped and endanger the soldiers and move us further and further away from the end of this long nightmare, and each day exacts a terrible price."

Itzik Guili, the father of the kidnapped Ran Guili, noted that as of October 7,"We and the state have no certain information about what is happening to him. They declared him a martyr, but we have no certainty. If I have even two percent doubt about my son's condition, then I still have hope. We are all waiting for them to be brought home. We have been dragging this out for two years. We must put an end to this."
