European countries allied with Ukraine are meeting this Sunday, the 17th, ahead of the meeting between Ukrainian President Volodmir Zelenski and US President Donald Trump , scheduled for Monday, the 18th . The announcement was made this Saturday by the French government.

The meeting will be held by videoconference at 3:00 p.m. local time (10:00 a.m. Brasília time) and will be chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron , German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer .

This will be the second meeting of the so-called"coalition of the willing" in a week. The group of countries allied with Ukraine was created earlier this year to guarantee the country's security in the event of a ceasefire.

"Our unwavering support for Ukraine will continue as long as necessary," said British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in a statement released Saturday by his office. The statement praises Donald Trump's efforts but signals the importance of involving Ukraine in the discussion.

"While progress has been made, the next step must be new talks involving President Zelensky. The path to peace in Ukraine cannot be decided without him," the statement said. Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin this Friday, the 15th, in Alaska, but there was no ceasefire agreement or clear signs of progress in the peace negotiations.

The British Prime Minister emphasizes that as long as Putin continues his "barbaric attacks" on Ukraine, the United Kingdom will continue to impose sanctions on Russia, which he says have already had a punitive impact on the Russian economy and its people.
