Russia launched a ballistic missile attack on Kyiv early Saturday, Oct. 25, according to city officials.
Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko reported that explosions occurred across the Dniprovsky, Desnyansky, and Darnytsky districts.
“According to preliminary information, nine people were injured, three of them hospitalized,” the State Emergency Service (DSNS) reported.

A non-residential building caught fire in one of the affected areas, while debris fell in open spaces, damaging nearby windows.
The head of the Kyiv City Military Administration (KMVA), Tymur Tkachenko, reported that a kindergarten in the Dnipro district was damaged as a result of the attack.
Emergency crews are working at the scenes.
Later, Tkachenko reported that one person had died, writing: “My sincere condolences to the family and friends.”
According to the latest report from the mayor, two people have died, including one who passed away in the hospital. 13 Kyiv residents were injured, three of whom remain hospitalized.
The DSNS reported that rescuers have localized the fires at all sites, and efforts to fully eliminate the consequences are ongoing.
The air raid alert in Kyiv was issued at 3.51 a.m. due to a ballistic missile threat. Kyiv Post correspondents reported hearing several powerful explosions shortly after the sirens began.
Meanwhile, after midnight, Russian forces struck the outskirts of Kharkiv for nearly an hour. Local media reported at least 15 explosions in the suburbs by 1.10 a.m. The Ukrainian Air Force had earlier warned of drone activity in the region.
Moreover, according to the DSNS, a rescuer was killed and another injured in the Dnipropetrovsk region following a repeated Russian missile strike on the Petropavlivska community in the Synelnykove district.
A woman was also killed, and seven others were injured. Two fire and rescue vehicles, residential buildings, and shops were damaged.
Russia also launched kamikaze drones at the Pokrovska territorial community. A residential building was destroyed and a fire broke out, though there were no deaths or injuries.
Additionally, a garage with a car inside caught fire during artillery shelling of Nikopol.
All fires were extinguished by emergency services.
According to the Air Force, from 7 p.m. on Oct. 24, Russia launched an attack involving nine Iskander-M ballistic missiles, 62 Shahed and Geran strike UAVs, as well as other types of drones - about 40 of them Shaheds.
The air assault was countered by Ukraine’s air defense units, including anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare systems, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups.
As of 9 a.m., preliminary data indicated that air defense had shot down or suppressed four ballistic missiles and 50 Russian Shahed, Geran, and other strike drones across the north, south, and east of the country.
Five ballistic missiles and 12 strike UAVs hit 11 locations, while debris from downed targets fell in four areas.
“The attack is ongoing, with several enemy UAVs still in Ukrainian airspace,” the report added.
