US President Donald Trump said that, in his opinion, China has no intention of attacking Taiwan.

As Ukrinform reports, he said this to journalists on Monday, answering questions about Chinese President Xi Jinping's readiness for an invasion.

I think we’ll be fine with China. China doesn’t want to do this…,” the president said, suggesting that Taiwan is a matter of special concern for Xi Jinping. That’s probably true, but I don’t see anything happening, he noted.

According to Trump, the United States is the most powerful military power in the world, and no one comes close.

We have the best weapons, the best of everything, and nobody is going to mess with it,” he said, explaining why there would be no conflict. And I don’t see that at all in President Xi. I think we’ll get along great,” he added.

Trump made the remarks ahead of a meeting with Xi Jinping in South Korea in late October, a visit the president hopes will help broker a trade deal and ease tensions between the two countries.

The US president previously said that Xi had allegedly promised not to invade Taiwan while Trump was president.
