Shortly after 1 a.m. on Sunday, the air raid siren sounded over Israel – Iran sent over 50 missiles at targets around Haifa and Tel Aviv.

One of the rockets hit a residential building in the town of Tamra outside Haifa in northern Israel. A majority of the people living in the area are Arabs and one of the families is named Khatib, writes the Jerusalem Post.

Manar al-Qasem Abu al-Heija Khatib and her two daughters Hala, 13, and Shada, 20, were three of those who died in the blast, which killed five in total.

“Everything collapsed”

20 people were injured.

“I saw that a three-story building had been destroyed and that nearby houses had been damaged,” one of the first doctors on the scene told Ynet.

Ynet newspaper has spoken to one of the neighbors in the house.

"We were in the living room watching TV when the rocket hit. Everything collapsed, furniture, the whole house. We were saved as if by a miracle," says Hamoudi.

Iran attacked in three waves during the night. In the coastal city of Bat Yam, in central Israel, an apartment building was also hit by a rocket.

Four people have been confirmed dead: two women, a 10-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl, according to the Jerusalem Post.

Over 200 people were injured overnight, including an infant who is being treated in hospital.

The rescue service tells the Times of Israel that seven people are still missing and may be under the rubble.

In Iran, at least 78 people have been confirmed dead since Friday's attack, 29 of them children, reports The Guardian.
