British police are not classifying the knife attack on a train north of London as a terrorist act. Two people have been arrested. Of the nine people initially seriously injured, two remain in critical condition.

Following an attack on several people on a train near the town of Huntingdon in England, investigators say they have found no evidence of a terrorist motive."At this stage, there is nothing to suggest that this is a terrorist incident," said Superintendent John Loveless of the British Transport Police in Huntingdon. However, he added that it was too early to say anything more specific.

Police arrested two men after the attack. According to police, the men are British-born, aged 32 and 35. They are accused of attempted murder. Defense Secretary John Healey told Sky News that there appeared to be no major threat to the public."Initial assessments indicate this is an isolated incident."

Two of those injured in the attack are still in critical condition, according to police. Police had previously reported that nine of the ten injured were in critical condition. Four of the injured have since been released from the hospital. However, one more person was hospitalized, bringing the total number of injured in the attack to eleven.

The train was on its way from Doncaster to London

The attack occurred on Saturday evening on a train traveling from Doncaster in northern England to London. The train was subsequently stopped in Huntingdon, near Cambridge, and armed police were deployed. Cambridgeshire Police stated they were alerted shortly after 7:30 p.m. local time that several people on the train had been stabbed. Emergency services launched a major response to Huntingdon station, involving numerous ambulances, emergency teams, and three rescue helicopters.

According to media reports, witnesses described dramatic scenes on the train. Passengers reported seeing a man with a large knife. Many ran through the carriages in a panic and hid in the toilets; there was blood everywhere.

The investigation continued into the following day. Many streets around the train station are closed, and tents have been set up for forensic investigation.
