Escalation and Threats

In late January 2020, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with leaders of the Shin Bet security service, then left the meeting to write on his official Arabic-language Twitter account - currently X - the following:

I said at the Shin Bet headquarters:

Our ultimate goal is to overcome the Iranian threat, which is a conventional, nuclear, and terrorist threat, just as we overcame the great threat of Arab nationalism.

We can do it and we have proven it.

Our determination to fight to secure our future and defeat our enemies must be greater than theirs.

Regardless of the blatant linguistic errors in this post, which reflect a hatred for the Arabic language, nation, and project, we are faced with a truth that Netanyahu was not afraid to declare publicly: just as was the case with Israel's historical leaders before and after the declaration of their state, they consider Arab nationalism to be the greatest threat to their state, which is based on murder and terrorism. They were able to eliminate this great danger and threat after decades of intelligence work based on the activities of the Israeli intelligence triangle: the Shin Bet, or the General Security Service, and the Israeli Internal Intelligence Service, before whose leaders Netanyahu spoke.

Mossad, or the Israeli Central Intelligence Agency, operates outside Israel, or Aman, or in Hebrew Agav Modiin, which is the intelligence branch of the General Staff of the Israeli army.

This was translated into rounds of military confrontation with Arab countries, targeted assassinations of Palestinian resistance leaders and leaders of the Arab nationalist movement, or intelligence infiltration operations within Arab countries and their centers of influence and decision-making.

Netanyahu brazenly claims that they have eliminated the greater threat of Arab nationalism, and that they need to confront the current threat of Iranian nuclear terrorism.

Netanyahu's remarks were made before Israel signed the Abraham Accords in August of that year, which confirmed what Netanyahu considered the elimination of the threat of Arab nationalism, particularly in light of the significant decline in the presence of Arab nationalist thought in Arab decision-making. They also occurred prior to October 7, 2023, and Operation Protective Edge.

Which Netanyahu exploited to implement his criminal plans, whether against the Palestinian resistance with its various factions, the Palestinian Authority, or even the entire Palestinian people.

Now, nearly two years after Israel's criminal war against the Palestinian people, Israel is implementing what Netanyahu said five years ago: eliminating the Iranian nuclear-terrorist threat.

As he called it, of course I am not a supporter of the Iranian regime, but I am well aware that the goal of the Israeli war on Iran is to eliminate any source of threat to Israel and its aggressive settlement project, just as happened with what Netanyahu called the threat of Arab nationalism, or the danger of the Arabs agreeing that Israel was and will remain an enemy that must be confronted one day, regardless of whether they believe in the idea of Arab nationalism or not, as I describe it.

I say: It is true that the Arab nation is living through one of the worst periods in its history, and it is also true that Israel has succeeded in winning several rounds in its ongoing war against the Arabs, and it is also true that Israel has succeeded in concluding normalization agreements with a number of Arab countries and is seeking to expand the circle of normalization in the coming years. But is it true that the Arabs have changed their view of Israel as an occupying entity that carried out the largest armed robbery in history? And is it true that the Arabs, despite all the disasters, crises, devastating internal wars, and battles that do not seem likely to end soon with terrorist forces and organizations that have no connection to religion or humanity, is it true that they could deal with Israel and consider its existence a natural matter?

I believe the answer will be no. My belief is not based solely on emotion, as some like to portray it, but rather on real phenomena and attitudes that anyone can observe if they choose a random sample from any Arab country, from the Atlantic Ocean to the Gulf, and ask them about Israel and how they view it. If you ask them to answer this question honestly, they will say it is an enemy and an usurper of Arab land.

Anyone who follows the popular reactions in Egypt and other Arab countries to the Israeli attack on Iran and the Iranian counterattack against Israel will discover the extent to which Israel's defenders are stripped of even a fig leaf, and are subjected to general national, regional, and human contempt.

Every time Israel commits a crime against the Palestinian people, and every time the US administration takes positions and decisions that violate the minimum agreed upon international laws and UN resolutions regarding the rights of the Palestinian people, the spirit of hostility toward Israel is renewed in the souls of Arabs, even if their positions differ and their visions diverge. The banner of Arab nationalism may have been broken in several arenas, and the Arab unity project may have been targeted several times, but what is certain is that the Arabs will not rise again and will not have a place in this turbulent world, riven by conflict and witnessing a moment of reorganization and repositioning of centers of power and influence, except through their unity, coordination of their positions, and investment of their energies and wealth.

This may not be a reproduction of historical experiences, but certainly these experiences, with their victories and defeats, are an important asset that the Arab nation cannot look to its future without considering and building upon.
