Prior to the meeting between President Javier Milei and Donald Trump, the Minister of Deregulation and State Transformation, Federico Sturzenegger, gave a preview of what the meeting in the Oval Office of the White House will entail.
"We are going to have a fairly unprecedented trade agreement within the United States, and that agreement will allow certain sectors of our economy to have privileged access to the North American market," he said on the streaming channel La Casa.
The president arrived in Washington just after midnight and will meet with Trump to strengthen political and financial support, while also seeking to seal agreements that would allow him to ease tariffs and attract investors.
"It's a path to beginning trade liberalization between the two countries," the national official added.
In addition to the US$20 billion contribution from the Treasury Department, the Argentine government is seeking to seal an agreement that it can announce, particularly in the areas of tariffs and investments, although there could be surprises in other areas.
"Javier's relationship with Trump has two dimensions: the Treasury aid aspect that has been most in the media, the foreign exchange market, the swap, but then there's another aspect we've been working on for many months: a trade agreement," Sturzenegger insisted.

The minister attributed the agreement to the close and supportive relationship established by the Argentine president.
"Managing a government is about making things happen, about these billions in investments, about Open AI with the 25 billion investment. If you get angry afterward because Milei says 'poop,' that's your problem. What will change Argentina are these fundamental transformations," he emphasized.
Sturzenegger said Trump is seeking to create bilateral trade agreements, and that our country's move is moving in that direction.
