JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Prabowo Subianto revealed that he had received an invitation from President Donald Trump to visit the United States (US) around September-October 2025.

However, Prabowo admitted that he would be nervous if the American leader later invited him to play golf together.

He felt that his golfing skills were very lacking.

Jokingly, Prabowo said he had to prepare by taking private golf lessons first.

"He said he might (visit the US) around September or October," Prabowo said during a press conference at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, which was broadcast online on Wednesday (July 16, 2025).

"But I'm a bit scared when asked to play golf. My golf skills are really bad. I have to take private golf lessons. I used to be good, but now I can't anymore," he continued, laughing.

For your information, President Donald Trump is widely known to be a fan of golf.

Since he was still a property entrepreneur, Trump has built dozens of golf courses under the auspices of his company, Trump Golf.

In recent times, the Republican politician has often shared moments playing golf with his grandson, Kai Trump, who is pursuing the sport professionally.

In his statement, President Prabowo also revealed that the import tariff negotiations he and President Donald Trump were taking place were tense.

The president also admitted that Trump is a tough negotiator.

"I spoke with President Donald Trump. Thank God, even though it was difficult, we finally reached an agreement.

"We will also, in other words, understand their interests. They understand our interests, and we agree with them," Prabowo said.

"Now, if I'm not mistaken, the rate has been lowered from 32 percent to 19 percent. Yes, I'm still negotiating. I'd say he's quite a tough negotiator," he said.
