US President Donald Trump and the leaders of the countries mediating the talks between Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas signed a declaration on peace in Gaza in Egypt today. According to Trump, it sets out more precisely the rules for the further implementation of his peace plan.

In addition to Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, the document was also signed by the leaders of Qatar and Turkey, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, whose countries, along with Egypt and the United States, played a key mediating role in negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement.

"This is a wonderful day for the world, a wonderful day for the Middle East," the US president said before signing a document or declaration, which he said would set out"the rules for continuing the peace process," the French news agency AFP reports.

"The document will contain a lot of rules and regulations and many other things, it is very comprehensive," Trump said in his opening remarks before the signing ceremony, repeating twice that the negotiated ceasefire would hold.
