The Moroccan national under-17 team has secured its qualification for the next round of the World Youth Championship currently being held in Qatar.
The boys’ team qualified for the next round of the “World Cup” after securing its place among the best eight third-placed teams in their groups, following the loss of the Mexican team, a short while ago, to Switzerland (1-3) in the third round of the competitions of the sixth group.
Following this loss, the Mexican national team occupied third place in its group with 3 points (with a negative two goals in the overall ratio), which is lower than the Moroccan national team, which has 3 points in its tally (with a positive eight goals in the overall ratio).
The Moroccan national team had secured its lead over the national teams of Qatar (two points), Costa Rica (one point and negative three goals in overall goal difference) and Tunisia (three points and plus three goals in overall goal difference), after they finished their group matches in the past two days, which means that the Moroccan national team automatically qualified for the next round without waiting for the results of the remaining matches scheduled for today and tomorrow.
Nabil Baha’s team finished the group stage in third place with 3 points, earned from a resounding 16-0 victory over New Caledonia, after losing the first two matches against Japan and Portugal by two goals and six goals respectively.
