Bols was also asked if investigators had obtained fingerprints or DNA samples, but he said that could not be disclosed, but all resources were being used to obtain them.

When asked if authorities know the identity of the shooter, an FBI agent declined to answer, saying he could not disclose details of the ongoing investigation. However, investigators do have good-quality video of the alleged shooter.

Utah Department of Public Safety Commissioner Beau Mason said the suspect fit in well with the university environment and was about college age.

The commissioner also described the shooter's movement patterns before and after the killing. The shooter arrived on campus at 11:52 a.m. local time, then went to the roof, crossed to the other side of the building, jumped off the building and fled to a neighboring state, the commissioner said. Investigators have been canvassing the area, contacting anyone with doorbell cameras and have been canvassing residents.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump announced today that he will soon award Charles Kirk the Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor bestowed by a president. Trump promised that the ceremony honoring the slain conservative activist would be spectacular."I can only guarantee one thing: there will be a very large crowd," Trump said.

Trump began his speech at a ceremony at the Pentagon honoring the 24th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks by mentioning Kirk, who was a political ally and close friend to many of Trump's advisers.
