While Trump had previously suggested he might attend today’s oral arguments in person, he backed away from that position over the weekend, saying he didn’t want to"distract" from the importance of the Supreme Court's decision.

"If we win, we will be the Richest, Most Secure Country anywhere in the World, BY FAR. If we lose, our Country could be reduced to almost Third World status — Pray to God that that doesn’t happen!," he wrote on Truth Social.

Instead, Trump’s top economic adviser, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, will be sitting in — a move that still signals the importance of this case to this administration.

When asked Monday on Fox News whether his presence might be criticized as trying to intimidate the justices, Bessent said:"They can say what they want. I am there to emphasize that this is an economic emergency. National security is economic security."
