The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassim Mohammed Al-Badawi, condemned in the strongest terms the"vile and cowardly" operation carried out by Israeli forces on Qatari territory.
The Secretary-General said,"The GCC states stand in full solidarity with the sisterly State of Qatar and stand with it in solidarity with any action it takes against this treacherous aggression, which has violated and torn apart all international laws and treaties approved by the countries of the world, foremost among them the United Nations, which requires the international community to immediately rise up and carry out its duties to hold the Israeli occupation forces accountable for their brutal and serious crimes and to deter them from all their practices that have begun to destabilize and undermine security in the region."
He added,"The State of Qatar has made valuable and significant efforts in mediation to resolve regional and international disputes and conflicts and stop the bloodshed, as attested by many of the conflicting parties. It always seeks to enhance security and stability in the region and the world." He pointed out that "its hosting of the negotiating delegation of the Hamas Political Bureau comes within the efforts to achieve a ceasefire, end the crisis in Gaza, and release detainees, which contributes to alleviating the suffering of the brotherly Palestinian people."
Earlier, the Israeli army announced that it had attacked Hamas's leadership in Doha with precision airstrikes, noting that it had named the operation"Day of Reckoning."
