Journalist Vitaly Hlahola published photos from the crime scene. They show the body of a man dressed in a black T-shirt and dark shorts. Hlahola, citing sources among criminalists, said on Telegram that the perpetrator shot 54-year-old Parubiy eight times. The RBK Ukraine server reported that investigators found seven bullets.
Witnesses quoted by several Ukrainian media outlets said the attack was carried out by a man on a scooter. He was dressed as a courier for a delivery company. He appeared on an electric scooter, hid the murder weapon in a bag after the shooting and disappeared.
The prosecutor's office is convinced that the killer did not have time to escape from Lviv, so he is hiding in the city. According to the UNIAN agency, the police have launched a special operation to find him. There has been no speculation in the Ukrainian media about the motives for the murder so far.
Parubiy served as the Speaker of the Parliament from April 2016 to August 2019. In 2004, he was one of the leading figures of the Orange Revolution in Kiev. He also later belonged to the camp of democratic political forces when Ukrainians opposed the regime of President Viktor Yanukovych. After his overthrow in 2014, Parubiy became Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
