Authorities in Australia announced last night (Sunday) that the number of people murdered in

The anti-Semitic terrorist attack on Bondi Beach, Australia

rose to 15, and that among the murdered was a 10-year-old girl. The oldest person murdered in the massacre is 87 years old. At the same time, the police in Sydney said that the two terrorists are father and son: 50-year-old Sajid Akram was killed, and his son

Navid Akram

The 24-year-old was seriously injured. According to police, the father, Sajid, was licensed to carry six firearms. During the attack, the terrorists were seen using at least three long guns.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced last night that there was no suspicion that a third terrorist was involved in the attack, as previously reported. He described the attack as an"act of pure evil" directed against Australian Jews: "We will devote every possible resource necessary to respond to this attack," he promised, amid fears in the Jewish community there - and around the world - of attacks inspired by the Hanukkah holiday. He added:"My government will continue to stand with Australian Jews, to eradicate anti-Semitism in all its forms."

This is the sequence of events in the horrific attack in the Sydney Hanukkah massacre, the worst massacre Australia has experienced in 30 years – since a mass shooting on the island of Tasmania in 1996, in which 35 people were killed. The times – according to Australian time.

5:00 PM: The beginning of the"Chanukkah by the Sea" event, on the occasion of the lighting of the first candle of Chanukah, organized by Chabad members in Sydney. The event was held at the northern end of the famous Bondi Beach, near the Bondi Park amusement park. More than 1,000 people attended the party, including many children.

6:47 PM: This is the time local police say they received initial reports of the shooting. The two terrorists dressed in black reportedly arrived at the beach in a vehicle with an ISIS flag, and footage from the scene shows them opening fire from a bridge near the park where the partygoers were.

7:05 PM: Just minutes after the initial reports to the police, they issue a warning to the public to take shelter.

7:20 PM: According to the Daily Mail, at this point – more than 13 minutes after the initial reports to the police – the shooting continued, and then footage was apparently filmed of a passerby charging from behind at one of the terrorists, who left the bridge and continued shooting from inside the park. The civilian, according to the reports, is an Arab citizen named Ahmed Al-Ahmed, a fruit store manager who was walking near the beach in Bondi at the time of the attack. Al-Ahmed, 43 and a father of two, was injured in the attack and taken to hospital."He was shot twice, he's a hero," his relatives said. In the footage from the takedown of the terrorist, another person is seen helping to neutralize him. The terrorist, who was apparently injured, then returns to the bridge from where the second terrorist continued shooting in all directions.

19:30: In another released footage, the two terrorists are seen after they were finally neutralized, and after the police handcuffed them. The father terrorist was eliminated, and his son was seriously injured. Passersby are seen shouting at them.

9:00 PM: Police close the scene to civilians, after a chaotic evacuation operation in which they say police also helped transport ambulances to hospitals. Police also confirm that several improvised explosive devices were found in the terrorists' car - which were checked and neutralized.

9:20 PM: Police raid the home of the terrorists in Bonnyring, a suburb in southwest Sydney. Three people were taken out of the house at gunpoint by the police, with their hands raised. The police announced that they had arrested two people, but without specifying who they were or what their connection was to Akram or the attack. At the time of the raid on the house, which has been owned by Akram's family for about a year, many residents were standing on the sidewalk opposite, and according to reports, a commotion developed at the scene.

07:30 the next morning: Police release new details about the terrorists, revealing that they are a father and son. They say their home was the same one raided by investigators in Bonnyring, but before the massacre they were living in another Sydney suburb, Kempsey. New South Wales Police Commissioner Mel Lyon revealed that two"basic" explosive devices were found in the raid on the attackers' home. He said the devices were not detonated.

Criticism of the police, and tightening of guidelines for Israelis abroad

The attack raises serious questions about the police response, and in light of the surge in anti-Semitic attacks in Australia, many are wondering why it took the police so many minutes to arrive at the scene and neutralize the terrorists."One of my friends was there and said that the police were completely underprepared to respond to this type of threat," resident Grace Matthews told the Australian ABC network."That's why a citizen is required to neutralize one of these threats. There should never be a situation where a citizen has to engage in a gunfight with a gunman. There's a police station less than a block away from the shooting scene. I'm beyond understanding how they let this go on for so long."

Police Chief Leynon claimed that the Jewish community had its own security company, and that from the moment the attack began, the police acted quickly – and he was proud of them for that."The police did a fantastic job," he said. Ryan Park, the New South Wales state health minister, tried to highlight the moments of chaos that occurred during the attack in a media briefing, noting that due to the large number of casualties, police were required to drive ambulances. He thanked the rescue forces for their"massive" response: "This was a horrific incident, an incident that broke the hearts of the paramedics and our medical community."פינוי הפצועים בירי ההמוני בבונדיי ביץ' באוסטרליה

Meanwhile, the National Security Bureau (NSB) issued a warning to Israelis abroad, warning that"past experience shows that there is a concern about copycat phenomena by supporters of terrorism who may act inspired by the event." The organization recommended taking the following precautions: avoiding attending unsecured mass events, especially events at synagogues, Chabad houses, Hanukkah parties, and the like; being vigilant around Jewish or Israeli sites; and reporting to security forces if anything unusual is detected.
