Public Opinion on Milei's Vetoes

The Chamber of Deputies rejected the presidential veto of the emergency disability law on Wednesday with 172 votes in favor, 73 against, and two abstentions, in a session marked by intense political exchanges and testimony from organizations linked to the sector.

Regarding the position of the representatives of Misiones, the legislators of the Misiones Renewal Party voted to reject the veto, that is, they supported the emergency disability law, as they had previously stated. Alberto Arrúa, Carlos Fernández, Daniel Vancsik, and Yamila Ruiz supported the initiative against the veto, seeking to overturn it and implement the law approved by Congress.

On the other hand, the"wigged" radical Martín Arjol and Emmanuel Bianchetti, of the PRO party, spoke out against rejecting the veto, aligned with the national ruling party and the Libertarian bloc, which seek to prevent the implementation of the law in favor of the disabled.

The law in question declares a disability emergency throughout the country and guarantees extraordinary funding measures for benefits, treatment, and assistance to people with disabilities and their families.

The president had vetoed the bill, citing"fiscal infeasibility," which prompted a strong backlash from civil society groups, governors, and legislators from various political blocs.

Following the majority vote against the veto, the bill will now move to the Senate. If the presidential veto is also rejected in the Upper House, it will be nullified and the law would go into effect.
