TEHRAN - An Israeli airstrike hit the Iranian state television building on Monday, immediately interrupting its live broadcast, according to the channel, which is controlled by the Iranian government. The Israeli military confirmed the attack.
Earlier, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz vowed to attack the Iranian regime's propaganda machine.
According to the state news agency IRNA, programming was interrupted and then reinstated shortly after the attack.
The warning to leave Tehran's District 3 was issued on the fourth day of the conflict , when the Israeli army claimed to have achieved air superiority over the Iranian capital and could fly over the city without facing major threats.
“At this point, we can say that we have achieved full air superiority over the skies of Tehran,” military spokesman Brigadier General Effie Defrin said. The military said it had destroyed more than 120 surface-to-surface missile launchers in central Iran, a third of Iran’s total.
He also said fighter jets struck 10 command centers in Tehran belonging to the Quds Force, an elite branch of the Revolutionary Guards that conducts military and intelligence operations outside Iran.
The Israeli strikes “deal with a deep and comprehensive blow to the Iranian threat,” Defrin said.
On the Iranian side, the regime launched more than 100 missiles at Israel. One missile landed near the American consulate in Tel Aviv. No one was injured.
