On August 9, 2025, there was a report that in the case of personnel of the 111th Infantry Company stepping on a landmine while patrolling the route in the Chong Don Ao-Kritsana area (Phu Makhuea area), 3 soldiers stepped on a landmine and were injured:

He is now safe but is recovering in the ICU. His family traveled from Amnat Charoen Province to visit Sergeant Major Thani.

Ms. Trisukon Chaowai, 36 years old, younger sister of Sergeant Major Thani, said that her brother has been in the civil service for 15 years. He loves the military profession and was stationed in the 3 southern border provinces for 2 years, since he was a private, before taking the exam to become a sergeant at Bodindecha Camp, Yasothon Province, and has been looking after the Thai-Cambodian border in the Phu Makhuea area for about 6 years. In the past, they have called to talk and give encouragement to each other all the time, since they knew there was a clash at the Thai-Cambodian border.

Until I heard the news around 10:30 that my brother had stepped on a landmine and was injured, I came to visit him with my parents.

Sergeant Major Thani is in good spirits and is currently recovering and will require further treatment. He expressed his gratitude for the support from all Thais. His family acknowledged their grief at the loss of Sergeant Major Thani's left leg, but they have been working hard since his decision to serve the nation. However, they would like to offer encouragement to the soldiers currently serving along the border, encouraging them to continue their duties. They hope, if possible, that everything will be resolved quickly and they do not want any more soldiers or civilians to be injured or killed.

The other two soldiers who were injured by the force of the landmine are now safe and are recovering.
