Sunday, August 3

Iran and Pakistan have signed 12 memoranda of understanding (MOUs) in various sectors during the official two-day visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to the neighboring country.

After holding a joint meeting in Islamabad on Sunday, high-ranking Iranian and Pakistani officials put their signatures on the cooperation documents aimed at facilitating the development of bilateral cooperation.

The agreements cover a wide range of areas, including tourism, agriculture, judicial and legal cooperation, industry, science and technology, transportation and transit, cultural heritage, and commercial and economic cooperation.

The documents also provide a framework to facilitate knowledge exchange, expand commercial capacities, strengthen people-to-people interactions, and enhance regional synergy between the two countries.

Heading a high-level delegation, President Pezeshkian travelled to Pakistan on Saturday at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Pezeshkian’s trip is his first to Pakistan since assuming office as the Iranian president.

The visit commenced in Lahore, where Pezeshkian paid tribute to Pakistan’s revered national poet, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, before moving to Islamabad for key meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Sharif.
