Heading a high-level delegation, President Pezeshkian travelled to Pakistan on Saturday at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Pezeshkian’s trip is his first to Pakistan since assuming office as the Iranian president.
The visit commenced in Lahore, where Pezeshkian paid tribute to Pakistan’s revered national poet, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, before moving to Islamabad for key meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Sharif.

Mehdi Sanai, the Iranian president’s political advisor, said in a post on X that Tehran-Islamabad relations encompass political, economic, religious, and cultural dimensions.
He further noted that developing provincial and border cooperation and increasing trade exchanges from the current level of $3 billion are among the goals of the visit.
