Veracruz, Ver. Irma Hernández, a retired teacher and taxi driver who was deprived of her liberty on July 17 by an armed group in the municipality of Álamo and was found dead days later, died of a heart attack after being assaulted, announced the governor of Veracruz, Rocío Nahle García.
The president indicated that this situation was confirmed by forensic personnel from the State Attorney General's Office (FGE).
He added that the teacher's body was found inside a building located on land in the north of the state, near the municipality where she disappeared.
He explained that the FGE was in charge of removing the body, and that ministerial and forensic personnel are continuing the investigation.
“In a half-shack, unfortunately, the teacher's body was found, (…) the teacher was assaulted, the forensic experts are telling us that it seems that as a result of this violence she suffered a heart attack,” she commented in an interview with a local radio station.
He specified that it was members of the Ministry of Defense who first arrived at the site where the woman was located.
He added that high-caliber weapons were also found at the scene, as well as other items allegedly belonging to members of organized crime.
He emphasized that there will be no impunity in this or any other case of extortion and intentional homicide perpetrated in Veracruz, and that they are working hand in hand with the Federation and the Attorney General's Office to achieve this goal.
“Soldiers entered a property that was remote, in the northern area, near Álamo, and found vehicles, vests, weapons, (…) they (the criminals) realized that the Army and the police were arriving, and they abandoned the site,” said the president.
The case of teacher Irma went viral after a video was released in which she was seen kneeling on the ground, surrounded by armed men with her face covered.
In the recording, Irma is heard, forced, calling on her fellow taxi drivers to pay the extortion fees imposed by the criminal group that dominates the area.
