Monday's visit was much more friendly. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who was also criticized for not wearing a suit on the previous occasion, wore a black shirt and jacket.
During the meeting, Zelensky thanked US President Donald Trump at least 16 times for US assistance to Ukraine.
The two presidents were polite and joking when speaking to the media. As the Wall Street Journal wrote, “it was clear they wanted to avoid a repeat of the February breakdown in talks.”
Zelensky called the conversation with Trump"concrete and constructive," while Trump expressed hope that he, Ukrainian and European leaders would be able to agree on"almost all points."
