According to reports, those present at the meeting in Doha that was attacked were Khalil al-Hayya, Khaled Mashaal, Muhammad Darwish, Razi Hamad, and Izzat al-Rishq. Explosions were heard in Doha, the capital of Qatar, this afternoon. Eyewitnesses said that smoke was seen rising over the city's Katara district. After reports in the Arab world, a senior Israeli official confirmed that an attack had indeed been carried out in Doha - the first ever - targeting senior Hamas figures. The IDF and Shin Bet said in a joint statement a little later that the air force"targeted the top leadership of the terrorist organization."

The IDF and Shin Bet emphasized that "the members of the leadership who were attacked led Hamas activities for years, and are directly responsible for carrying out the October 7 massacre and waging the war against the State of Israel." It was also stated that "prior to the attack, steps were taken to minimize harm to uninvolved people, including the use of precision weaponry and additional intelligence information. The IDF and Shin Bet will continue to act with determination to defeat the Hamas terrorist organization responsible for the October 7 massacre."

Before Israel claimed responsibility for the unusual action, the Iraqi network"Sabrin News" reported that the target of the attack was the Hamas headquarters in the city, and a Gaza source reported that senior figures in the terrorist organization were the target. Arab media also reported that the senior figures were attacked as they gathered to discuss US President Donald Trump's proposal for a hostage deal.

The meeting was attended by senior Hamas figures Khalil al-Hayya, Khaled Mashaal, Muhammad Darwish, Razi Hamad and Izzat al-Rishq. Shortly after the attack, Al-Arabiya reported that al-Hayya had been killed in the attack. Continue reading
