Washington. President Claudia Sheinbaum walked the red carpet ahead of the draw that will define the groups for the 2026 World Cup, the first to be played with 48 national teams.
The President made a lightning visit to the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. as leader of one of the three host countries for the upcoming World Cup; the ceremony was also attended by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and U.S. President Donald Trump.
The Mexican president attended the ceremony with the head of government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada.
Sports, political, and entertainment personalities posed for the cameras of the media covering the event amidst a snowy day in the US capital; on the red carpet were seen artists such as Robin Williams; the coach of Mexico, Javier Aguirre; the former Mexican national team player, Hugo Sánchez; executives of the Mexican Football Federation (FMF); the Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli; the US Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Bessent; the former Brazilian player, Roberto Carlos; the coach of the Brazilian national team, Carlo Ancelotti, among others.
