KUALA LUMPUR: Asean member states have enlisted high ranking officers to discuss Myanmar’s invitation to send observers for its planned year end elections, said Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.
“Asean Foreign Ministers have discussed the five point agenda,” he said during his press conference at the 47th Asean Summit and Related Summits on Saturday (Oct 25).

“We have also touched on Myanmar’s invitation. Myanmar invited Asean countries to send observers when they have the first phase of their elections on December 28, 2025,” said Mohamad.
He added that the matter has been discussed.
“We want the senior officials to deliberate further so that we can have a thorough view and make a decision,” he added.
Myanmar has been in conflict since a 2021 military coup that overthrew the elected government of Aung San Suu Kyi.
This triggered an armed rebellion that led to large parts of the country slipping out of the junta’s control.
