Diplomatic Approach to Iran's Nuclear Issue

The top Iranian diplomat has praised Pakistan’s “firm and resolute” stance in condemning Israeli acts of aggression against Iran, highlighting Iran’s readiness to expand cooperation in the economic and trade fields.

During a meeting with his Pakistani counterpart on the sidelines of the SCO meeting on Tuesday, Abbas Araghchi elaborated on Iran’s perspective regarding regional security following the recent military attacks by the Zionist regime and the United States against Iran.

He emphasized that the military aggression by the Zionist regime and the United States, which openly violated the UN Charter, international law, and the nonproliferation regime, posed an unprecedented threat to security and stability throughout West Asia.

According to Araghchi, the consistent and firm positions adopted by key regional countries in response to these acts reflect widespread concerns over their dangerous consequences for regional security, as well as a shared consensus on countering the expansionism and warmongering of the Zionist regime.

Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, reiterated his country’s solidarity with Iran in the face of Israeli and American aggression.

He expressed confidence that the Iranian government and people would persevere through these threats and challenges, continuing on their path of progress and development.

He also noted his satisfaction with the ongoing dialogue between officials from both countries and expressed optimism that, with continued joint efforts and the removal of certain barriers, the process of deepening Tehran-Islamabad relations would be facilitated and accelerated.

'Betrayal of diplomacy'

Araghchi also met with Bakhtiyor Saidov, Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister, on the sidelines of the SCO meeting.

He expressed gratitude for Uzbekistan’s support of Iran’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty amid US-Israeli aggression and commended the solidarity shown by Uzbekistan with Iran’s government and people.

Recalling that Israel’s military attack occurred during ongoing diplomatic negotiations and that the U.S. subsequently undertook a dangerous act of aggression against Iran, Araghchi underscored that such actions represented a betrayal of diplomacy and an unprecedented blow to the rule of law.

He lamented that the UN Security Council and the International Atomic Energy Agency failed to condemn these aggressions, despite over 120 countries and organizations, including the Non-Aligned Movement, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Arab League, BRICS, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, having issued condemnations.

Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister reiterated his country’s condemnation of violations of Iran’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty, expressing concern, like many other regional countries, over the consequences of these acts of aggression and the escalation of instability in the region. He noted Uzbekistan’s belief that Iran has acted wisely to prevent further escalation.

He said Uzbekistan’s commitment to promoting and developing relations with Tehran, highlighting the regular convening of the joint economic commission, active chambers of commerce, and strengthened ties between the provinces of both countries, as catalysts for expanding economic and trade cooperation.

The Iranian foreign minister also held talks with his Indian and Kyrgyz counterparts, where discussions focused on US-Israeli aggression and the ongoing trajectory of bilateral cooperation.
