Israel bombardea el sur y centro de Gaza tras acusar a Hamás de violar el alto el fuego

The state of the truce that has been in place in the Gaza Strip since last week is worsening by the minute. The Israeli Air Force carried out airstrikes against the Hamas militant group in Rafah, in the south of the enclave, on Sunday morning. The Israeli army said in a statement that Palestinian fighters had opened fire with “anti-tank missiles” against Israeli troops in the area, and asserted that the offensive was a response to what it described as a “flagrant” violation of the ceasefire. Later, Israel also bombed Jabalia, in the north of the enclave, and Deir el-Balah, in the center.

Israel warns of new attacks on Hamas after Gaza ceasefire ‘violations’

Israel may carry out new attacks against Hamas in response to what it described as “violations” of the ceasefire agreement by the Islamist group, a military official said. The official, briefing reporters, said that on Sunday there were at least three incidents in which Hamas fired at Israeli troops behind the “yellow line,” where Israeli forces had withdrawn under the ceasefire agreement. Israeli settlers attack Palestinians and burn cars during olive harvest in the occupied West Bank

About 20 settlers, some masked and armed with sticks, beat several Palestinians and burned at least two cars after preventing the olive harvest in the village of Turmusaya, located in the occupied Palestinian territory of the West Bank. According to Yaser, a resident of Turmusaya, who spoke to EFE, the entire village had gathered this morning in a single location to advance in a convoy of vehicles and begin harvesting only part of their olive groves together, in order to avoid multiple attacks."As soon as I arrived at my land, they called me to warn me that the settlers were coming. We decided to leave," Yaser told EFE by phone. He says that they then came across a military vehicle that had blocked the road and held them up until the settlers caught up."It was some kind of ambush," says this Palestinian, who holds dual US citizenship like most of the residents of this village near Ramallah. Yaser said that the settlers threw stones, smashed windows of his vehicle, and attacked them. Outside the car, an elderly woman was hit unconscious and was later attacked two more times as she lay on the ground, an American journalist and witness who documented the attack told EFE. The woman is in the hospital.

According to this journalist, at one point he abandoned the vehicle and despite shouting"American press, American press," the settlers continued throwing stones and attacking them. Among the injured is also a foreign activist, confirmed Yaser, who belongs to the International Solidarity Movement (ISM); although this group has not yet commented on the matter. (EFE)

The Israeli army has reported that Palestinian militias fired “an anti-tank missile and firearms” at a military bulldozer operating in Rafah “to dismantle terrorist infrastructure, in accordance with the ceasefire agreement. “In response, the Israel Defense Forces have begun attacking the area to eliminate the threat and dismantle tunnels and military structures used for terrorist activities. Israel bombs southern Gaza after alleged “exchange of fire” with Hamas in the area

The Israeli Air Force reportedly carried out an operation on Sunday morning to bomb Hamas in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip. According to Israeli newspapers such as The Times of Israel, Palestinian fighters may have opened fire on Israeli soldiers in that area and the Israeli offensive is a response to this violation of the ceasefire.

The Israeli media outlet Channel 12 reports that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a phone call with Defense Minister Israel Katz and some army leaders to assess the situation. Israeli authorities have yet to comment publicly on the attack, and there is no known death toll or casualty. Published at 11:08 CEST 10/19/2025

Hamas Assures US It Has Not Violated the Ceasefire Agreement The Islamist group Hamas on Sunday rejected the US State Department’s accusation that it is on the verge of committing an “imminent violation” of the ceasefire agreement due to its militants’ attacks on other armed clans in Gaza, and blames Israel for arming and financing those other militias. “These false accusations are entirely consistent with deceptive Israeli propaganda,” the group said in a statement, adding that it was Israel that “formed, armed, and financed criminal gangs that carried out murders, kidnappings, robberies of aid trucks, and thefts against civilians.” Hamas confirmed that Gaza police officers, “with broad civilian and popular support,” are pursuing these gangs and holding them accountable “in accordance with the to clear legal mechanisms to protect citizens and preserve public and private property."

The United States yesterday accused Hamas of planning "an imminent violation" of the ceasefire due to attacks against other Palestinians, alluding to the continued executions carried out by Hamas militants against local clans. In a statement, the US State Department added that it had informed the guarantor countries of the imminent violation and warned that"if Hamas continues with this attack," it will take measures to protect the population in Gaza and preserve the truce that came into effect on October 10. El retraso de la primera fase de la paz en Gaza diluye el optimismo del alto el fuego

Last Monday, with Hamas militants controlling the streets of half of Gaza, most of the bodies of Israeli hostages yet to be returned, and a technocratic government, a multinational force, and a foreign supervisory body still in existence, US President Donald Trump announced on social media: “Phase two has begun right now.” No one is quite sure what he meant: it’s precisely the part of his plan for Gaza that concentrates all the long-term and thorny issues (disarmament of Hamas, a new administration in the Strip, an end to the Israeli withdrawal, etc.). And, if this first week of the ceasefire has demonstrated anything, it’s that its negotiation and implementation will be tricky.

Israel identifies the body of one of the hostages as Ronen Engel from Kibbutz Nir Oz

The Israeli army informed the family of hostage Ronen Engel, 54, on Sunday that his body had been returned to Israel from Gaza for burial, following the early morning identification of his remains at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine.

Ronen Engel was kidnapped lifeless from Kibbutz Nir Oz, located a few kilometers from the Strip, a military statement said. His wife and two daughters were also captured and returned during the first hostage release agreement in November 2023. “After 744 days, my father finally returned home,” his daughter Mika wrote on Instagram today. “This is not what we expected, this is not what we wished for him, but he has finally arrived,” she added.

The Forum of Families of Hostages and Missing Persons said in a separate statement that his return “provides some comfort to a family that has lived with unbearable uncertainty and doubt for more than two years” and called for the return of the remaining deceased captives. Early this morning, Israel received the coffins containing the remains of two deceased hostages through the International Committee of the Red Cross. With the delivery of these bodies, the bodies of 15 hostages kidnapped during the Hamas multiple attack on October 7, 2023, remain in Gaza. (Efe)

Hamas accuses Israel of violating the ceasefire by refusing to reopen the Rafah crossing

Hamas accuses the Israeli government of having committed a “flagrant violation” of the terms of the ceasefire agreement by preventing the reopening of the Rafah crossing, on the border between Gaza and Egypt. “Netanyahu’s decision to prevent the opening of the Rafah crossing until further notice is a flagrant violation (...) and a denial of the commitments he made to the mediators and guarantors,” the group said in a statement late Saturday. Hamas also noted that its closure also makes it impossible for the wounded and sick to leave and evacuate, as well as for heavy machinery to clear debris or specialized equipment to examine and verify the identities of the hundreds of Palestinian bodies that Israel is returning to the enclave. “We call on the mediators and guarantors of the agreement to take urgent measures to pressure the occupation to immediately open Rafah, force it to comply with all the terms of the agreement, and end its ongoing crimes against our Palestinian people in Gaza,” the statement added. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Saturday that Rafah will remain closed"until further notice" depending on whether Hamas returns the remains of the remaining captives, and in response to statements by the Palestinian Embassy in Egypt and the World Health Organization (WHO) that the crossing would reopen on Monday.
