Kiev Intelligence: Russia to produce 2,500 missiles by 2025. Range and accuracy are also being considered, even considering war with NATO in 2030.
Russia is expected to produce around 2,500 high-precision missiles by 2025, including cruise, ballistic, and hypersonic missiles. This was explained by Vadym Skibitsky, deputy head of Ukraine's military intelligence agency, in an interview with Ukrinform. Moscow has reportedly ramped up defense production and air strikes in recent months, despite US-led efforts to negotiate an end to hostilities. In addition to missile production, Russia plans to produce a range of modern military equipment by the end of 2025. Skibitsky said that Russia is stepping up both the development of new weapons and the modernization of its existing arsenal. Russian drone production is also significantly increasing, he added. Russia is focusing its missile development efforts on three areas: extending range, improving accuracy, and enhancing the effectiveness of warheads, Skibitsky added. These efforts would not be aimed exclusively at the ongoing war in Ukraine, but are also part of long-term preparations for a potential conflict with NATO by 2030. Hitting targets in Ukraine requires a combat radius - Skibitsky explained - but preparing for war with NATO by 2030 requires a much greater range, and this is exactly what Russia is integrating into its weapons programs.

Trump ready for second phase of sanctions against Russia
US President Donald Trump said from the White House that he is ready to move to a second phase of sanctions against Russia to push for peace in Ukraine. US media reported this."Yes, I am," Trump replied to a reporter who asked him if he was ready to move to the second phase of sanctions against Russia. Kevin Hassett, head of the White House National Economic Council, told CBS earlier this week that the US administration will evaluate the imposition of new sanctions on Moscow in the coming days."I'm sure there will be a lot of discussion today and tomorrow, you know, about the level of sanctions and their timing," Hassett told CBS, emphasizing that the decision ultimately rests with the president.

Russia: Military infrastructure and transport hit in Kiev
Following the massive attacks against Kiev, the Russian military claimed on Telegram that it had only targeted sites of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex and transport infrastructure. It indicated that it had struck drone manufacturing sites and military airfields in eastern, southern, and central Ukraine, as well as two industrial plants on the outskirts of Kiev. No other targets within Kiev were hit, the Russian ministry added, implying that the seat of government had not been directly hit. The world must respond to this destruction not only with words, but with deeds. We must increase pressure on sanctions, primarily against Russian oil and gas, the Ukrainian prime minister emphasized, also calling for weapons.

Bessent: US and EU should collaborate to collapse Russian economy
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the United States and the European Union must work together to collapse the Russian economy."We are ready to increase pressure on Russia, but we need our European partners to follow suit," he told NBC. If the United States and the European Union impose more sanctions and secondary tariffs on countries that buy Russian oil, the Russian economy will collapse completely, and this will bring President Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table, he explained.

North Korea: Kiev intelligence says Pyongyang will send thousands of workers to Russian companies
North Korea is planning to send thousands of its citizens to work at Russian companies, both in the defense and construction sectors. Vadym Skibitsky, deputy director of Ukraine's Defense Intelligence Directorate, confirmed this to Ukrinform. The first group of 1,000 workers for construction projects has already arrived in the Kursk region. North Korea is sending specialists to gain experience not only in the military-industrial complex, but also in construction and other industrial sectors. For example, 6,000 North Korean specialists will be deployed to the Kursk region, where over 1,000 have already arrived, Skibitsky explained. The workers are involved in road repairs and the construction of defensive fortifications. Some are also being sent to plants producing munitions and military vehicles, including tanks, armored vehicles, and drones. Skibitsky added that Ukrainian intelligence has information about the recruitment of foreign citizens for companies in the Yelabuga region, where Russia plans to send 40,000 workers to produce drones. Many of the foreign workers end up signing contracts with the Russian Ministry of Defense and then participate in military operations. According to Ukrinform, in August, the head of the Defense Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, said that Pyongyang would transfer 6,000 additional workers to Russia along with 50-100 military vehicles.
Russia: Nord Stream gas pipelines targeted by saboteurs
The Nord Stream pipelines were blown up by a team of highly trained saboteurs with extensive experience operating at significant depths in the Baltic Sea, including the United Kingdom's Special Boat Service. This was stated by Nikolai Patrushev, Russian presidential advisor and chairman of the Russian Maritime Board. It was clearly an act of sabotage conducted at a highly professional level. Destroying a section of an underwater pipeline is in itself a rather complex task, especially if the work must be as discreet as possible without the use of a specially equipped vessel. In the case of the Nord Stream pipelines, the task was obviously carried out by a team of highly qualified saboteurs with extensive experience working at significant depths and in the difficult hydrological conditions of the Baltic Sea, Patrushev said in an interview with the Kommersant newspaper, commenting on the investigation conducted by Western investigators.
Not every army or special services in the world have swimmers capable of such a sophisticated covert operation, the Russian presidential aide noted. One of the special services capable of carrying out such a task is the famous UK Special Boat Service. It is one of the oldest naval sabotage units, having made its name during World War II, Patrushev said.

He finally expressed solidarity with the victims and their families, praising the strength and resilience of the Ukrainian people, who continue to inspire us all.

In August, Ukrainian forces lost approximately 5 kilometers on the Pokrovsk front, but subsequently managed to regain 26 square kilometers of territory. Army Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi stated this in a Facebook post. He reiterated that this sector remains one of the most difficult, with nearly 350 Russian attacks repelled in a week. Moscow is concentrating its main offensive forces in the area in an attempt to break through Ukrainian defenses. Despite the pressure, the Ukrainians are holding their positions, inflicting human and material losses on the Russians and conducting effective counterattacks. According to the Army Commander-in-Chief, a similarly favorable situation for Ukraine is observed on the Dobropillia front.

Moscow Doesn't Want Peace, Macron Calls Zelensky
French President Emmanuel Macron had a long telephone conversation with President Zelensky this morning following last night's heavy Russian bombing, the Elysée Palace reported. The Quai d'Orsay also strongly condemned Moscow's new offensive:"France," a statement from the Foreign Ministry read,"condemns in the strongest terms the attacks, which represent a new escalation and demonstrate, if proof were still needed, that Russia has no intention of peace."
The statement recalls that Russia's attacks on the Ukrainian capital have particularly damaged the Ukrainian government headquarters and caused numerous victims, including children. Today, as it has been since February 2022, the Quai d'Orsay writes, Russia continues to refuse to negotiate, emphasizing that these attacks of unprecedented scale, less than two weeks after a massive offensive against Kiev, represent a new escalation and are seen as proof that Russia wants peace. France, the statement concludes, expresses its full solidarity with the Ukrainian people and authorities and reiterates its unwavering support for the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Ukraine. It will continue its engagement with partners, particularly within the framework of the Coalition of the Willing, to increase its support for Ukraine and increase pressure on Russia to end its war against Ukraine.

Kiev: Large Russian refinery in Krasnodar hit and set on fire
Russian drones struck and set fire to a major Russian oil refinery in the Krasnodar Krai, east of Crimea, about 500 km from the Russian-Ukrainian front line, the largest in southern Russia. This event was also confirmed by Russian social media and bloggers, who published videos and photos of the blaze, according to Ukrainian media, including the Kyiv Independent. The refinery is the Ilsky refinery, which produces over 6 million tons of fuel annually and which Ukrinform claims is used to supply fuel to the Russian armed forces. According to media reports, there were no casualties in the massive fire, which broke out around 2:15 a.m. local time (1:15 a.m. Italian time). The Kyiv armed forces, according to media reports, have not yet commented on the attack. Kiev has previously struck the Ilsky refinery: the last time was on July 7, when a drone struck one of the plant's technological laboratories, a Ukrainian military intelligence source (Hur) told the Kyiv Independent. In August alone, Ukraine struck at least 12 Russian refineries, shutting down facilities representing over 17% of Russia's national processing capacity, or 1.1 million barrels per day. The Krasnodar Krai, a strategic region along Russia's Black Sea coast, is increasingly being targeted by Ukrainian drone attacks, as Kiev extends the range of its strikes deep into Russian territory, the Kyiv Independent reports.

Stiglitz: The EU must learn to live without the US, Trump is unreliable.
Europe must learn to live without the United States, or at least to rely less and less on Washington. It is
The only way to achieve true economic and political sovereignty. And it's a path that also involves increased defense investment. This is what Joseph Stiglitz, Nobel Prize winner in Economics, said at the TEHA Forum in Cernobbio. Regarding the current role of the US and Big Tech, he proposes drastic solutions. After all, as he argued in an interview with Repubblica, Trump is chaos.
Europe, he observes, must not chase American monopolies, but develop solid, reliable, medium-sized technology companies. I'm thinking of cases like Spotify, the highly successful Swedish digital music platform. As for artificial intelligence, Europe's lag is not insurmountable: the technology is increasingly open source; there's no real monopoly. The real profits will be made in business models tied to sector-specific data, not global platforms. European economic sovereignty, he adds, means stopping having economic policies dictated by the United States. This inevitably requires a review of trade relations, exports, and imports. The goal must be a Europe less dependent on the US, and similarly, militarily, you can no longer count on American protection: you need an autonomous industrial and defense capacity. The war in Ukraine has made everything more urgent. The defense agreement with Washington was never really a deal. Trump doesn't make any moves for Kiev, but at the same time allows Europe to spend billions buying American weapons. And his threat is to disrupt this lucrative trade for the US.

Kubilius, European Commissioner for Defense: Drones and innovation, how the Ukrainian army can provide us with technology for common defense.
(by Federico Fubini) Andrius Kubilius, 69 years old, former Lithuanian prime minister, He holds a role that had never existed in Brussels: European Commissioner for Defense. But the European Union has never been so committed to supporting a country under attack from Russia.
Commissioner, how much are the European Union countries helping Ukraine today?
In total, the overall aid so far has been around 150 billion euros. It's much larger than the American aid, and in purely military terms, it's worth around 60 billion. But do you know what that means, over three years? Every year, we've given Ukraine 0.1% of our gross domestic product. It's not zero, but still.
Then there are security guarantees, with two different visions. Paris proposes sending troops to Ukraine, while Italy sees a model similar to NATO's Article 5: a commitment to intervene in the event of aggression. Which is better?
European governments are discussing it, and it's important. But at the moment, I see no signs that Vladimir Putin is ready to sign any peace agreement. And security guarantees will be implemented only if and when Putin does.
In essence, is the discussion about guarantees less urgent than the discussion about how to provide Ukraine with the means to defend itself?
I wouldn't make such a comparison, but we have to be realistic. For now, Putin isn't ready to do anything. He thinks he's winning. So the question is: what happens next? In my opinion, strengthening the Ukrainian army would be a significant step forward. Then, of course, we also need to discuss guarantees and strengthening European defense.
