SÃO PAULO AND BRASILIA – The ministers of the First Chamber of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) continue to analyze this Wednesday, 10, the criminal action against former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and seven other defendants for attempted coup d'état after the 2022 elections. Ministers Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the case, and Flávio Dino voted for the conviction of all .
On this fourth day of analysis of the case, the only minister to vote should be Luiz Fux . Throughout the week, Cármen Lúcia and Cristiano Zanin , president of the Panel, will also speak.
In total, eight sessions were scheduled, but on the afternoon of last Friday the 5th, Moraes requested additional sessions from Zanin, who granted the request. This Thursday the 11th, there will also be morning and afternoon sessions. The result of the trial is expected to be announced on Friday the 12th.
Bolsonaro and the other defendants are charged with armed criminal organization, coup d'état, attempted violent abolition of the rule of law, damage to listed heritage, and aggravated damage to federal property. The Attorney General's Office (PGR) has requested the former president's conviction for all listed crimes, which, combined, could exceed 40 years in prison. The sentencing will still be determined by the justices if convicted.
