The marchers shouted at the time:"What do we want? Equality! When do we want it? Now!" The Riga Queer Choir sang the song "Green Song" by the band "Pērkons".

The event was also attended by the Minister of Culture Agnese Lāce (P), the newly elected Mayor of Riga Viesturs Kleinbergs (P) and other members of the"Progressive" party they represent. Representatives of the Latvian Student Union, the women's rights organization"Marta", as well as representatives of the law firm"Cobalt", the companies"Printful","Caffeine" and others participated in the march.

The crowd also carried Latvian, Lithuanian, and European Union flags. People also participated in the march with Israeli and Palestinian flags.

On Brīvības Street, people had hung a rainbow flag from their windows in support of the marchers.

The marchers were accompanied by a few protesters who had come with signs opposing the goals of Pride. One man held a large wooden cross. However, the protesters expressed their beliefs peacefully.

"This year, it is more important than ever to be visible, loud and unwavering in our call for a just and inclusive society. Riga Pride is not a celebration – it is a clear message that human rights and freedom are not taken for granted. Only together can we change the world for the better and live freely, no matter who we are," says Kaspars Zālītis, co-chair of Riga Pride 2025.

"Freedom must be protected. We are all responsible for freedom. By marching in Riga Pride, we take this responsibility into our own hands and clearly state that we care about our freedom, democracy, and we will not allow it to disappear because of our laziness - because we are not ready to take to the streets and show our position," says Kristīne Garina, co-chair of Riga Pride 2025.

After the parade, the traditional"Pride Park" will take place in Vērmanes Garden - a place where everyone can feel free, safe and joyful. A wide program of activities will await guests in Pride Park.
