Residents of the Ejido Pueblo Nuevo community, between fear and anger, accompanied retired teacher Irma Hernández Cruz to her final resting place.
The woman was laid out in her home on Úrsulo Galván Street in the aforementioned town in Álamo Temapache, Veracruz.
What happened during the ceremony?
The daughter of the retired teacher and taxi driver, demanded justice, but declined to give an interview, since like family members and neighbors, they are afraid of what happened to the rural teacher, who decided not to pay her floor rights in order to be able to work the taxi with which she completed the expenses that she could not cover with her teacher's pension.
"She was an honest, hard-working woman; she didn't deserve this," one of the mourners was heard saying.
What is known about the case?
His disappearance
On July 18 of this year, the retired teacher d disappeared while driving a taxi, in Álamo Temapache.
The teacher was kidnapped on Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Street, in front of the Municipal Market in downtown Álamo Temapache, while driving vehicle number 554. Armed men intercepted her and forced her into a van.
It is presumed that the teacher f was kidnapped because she refused to pay a protection fee to a criminal group.
The video recorded by a criminal group
Later, a video was released in which the teacher was kneeling surrounded by armed men. In it, she sent a message to her fellow taxi drivers to agree to pay their dues to a criminal group and avoid the same fate as her.
"Fellow taxi drivers, you don't mess around with the Veracruz mafia. Pay your dues properly," he said in the video.
Irma Hernández found dead
Almost a week after her disappearance, on July 24, the teacher was found dead in the community of Tepetzintlilla, near the municipality of Cerro Azul.
For this crime there are three people arrested : two men identified as Víctor Manuel 'N' and José Eduardo 'N', and a woman, Jeana Paola 'N', who are supposed to be members of a criminal organization.
The center of the municipality of Huasteca Veracruzana is disputed by two criminal groups, according to the National Security Cabinet.
