Minister Moșteanu took part in a ceremony commemorating the Ukrainian soldiers who fell in battle, where he laid a wreath, as well as in other official activities organized by the Ukrainian authorities.
At the same time, the Romanian official participates in the"Defense Cooperation Forum. Future Warfare", where he presents Romania's contribution and constant support for Ukraine, as well as our country's active role in international efforts to consolidate regional security and stability.
"Today, in Kiev, on the day Ukraine celebrates its independence, my thoughts go out to all those who lost their lives in this unjust war, triggered by Putin's Russia. Innocent civilians, destroyed families, children left without parents - the victims of Russian aggression cannot be forgotten. I laid a wreath in memory of all the victims. The Ukrainian people deserve all our admiration and support for the courage with which they defend not only their freedom, but also the security of Europe. Every day of Ukrainian resistance means more security for Romania and for all our allies. Romania remains firmly on Ukraine's side. We will not give in to the propaganda and pressure coming from parties aligned with Moscow," said Moșteanu.
On August 24, Ukraine celebrates Independence Day, one of its most important national holidays. On this day in 1991, the Parliament in Kiev adopted the Declaration of Independence, officially declaring Ukraine's independence from the Soviet Union.
